A day aboard Elegance 

 

Welcome aboard at around 09.30 hrs for a Champagne reception, and a tour of the boat. After a safety briefing, we will leave our berth in Ocean village Marina Southampton, and set off along the River Itchen towards Southampton Water.

 

At the junction of the Itchen River and Southampton Water is the home berth of the luxury liners, Queen Mary 2 and the new Queen Victoria. If we are lucky and they are here, we can make a point of sailing close past them for a really awe inspiring sight. (Make sure you have your cameras ready).

 

After viewing these magnificent ships, we will turn and head all the way down Southampton Water past the Hamble River, to Calshot and out into the Solent, then setting a course for the famous Needles Lighthouse, which is perched at the end of a row of white rocks, at the far western side of the Isle of Wight. Our voyage will take us past Cowes and Yarmouth, on the island, and the New Forest as it meets the sea on the mainland.

 

During the passage you will see many other sailing and motor yachts out enjoying the sea. You will be invited to take the wheel and drive the boat, as we cruise close to the Island, and on to the Lighthouse for some more photo opportunities.

 

In the shadow of the needles is Alum Bay with its famous cliffs of multi coloured sand. We enter the bay before heading for an anchorage such as Yarmouth for lunch. At Yarmouth there is a great choice of restaurants, and one will be booked and reserved for you within a few steps of the harbour.

 

Returning to the boat after lunch we make for Osborne Bay. It is here where Queen Victoria had her private palace and grounds, and where she would swim from her private beach. You will be able to see Osborne House and the castle from the boat. From here we cross Rye Middle and sail along the North Channel on the mainland side of the Solent.

Afternoon tea will be served, as we cruise back up Southampton Water. We will be back on our berth at about 17.00 hrs, after a truly unforgettable day!
