An
example of a typical day on board |
|
|
Welcome
aboard the boat at around 09.30 hrs for a Champagne
reception, and a tour of the boat. After a safety
briefing, we will untie and leave our berth in Ocean
village and set off down the River Itchen towards
Southampton Water.
At
the junction of the Itchen and Southampton Water is
the berth for the new Queen
Mary 2 and the QE2. If we are lucky, and
they are here, we can make a point of sailing really
close past them for a really awe inspiring sight.
(make sure you have your cameras ready).
After
viewing these magnificent ships, we will head all
the way down Southampton Water and out into the Solent,
setting a course for the famous Needles
Lighthouse, which is perched at the end
of a row of white rocks, at the far western side of
the Isle of Wight. Our voyage will take us past Cowes
and Yarmouth, on the island, and the New Forest as
it meets the sea on the mainland.
|
|
|
During
the passage you will see many other sailing and motor
yachts out enjoying the sea. And you will be invited
to take the wheel and drive the boat, as we cruise
close to the Island, and on to the Lighthouse for
some more photo opportunities.
In
the shadow of the needles is Alum Bay where the famous
Isle of Wight coloured sand comes from, We can enter
the bay before heading back towards Yarmouth
for lunch. At Yarmouth there is a great choice of
pubs restaurants and bars, and one will be booked
and reserved for you within a few steps of the harbour.

Returning
to the boat after lunch we make for Osborne
Bay. It is here where Queen Victoria had
her private palace and grounds, and where she would
swim from her private beach. You will be able to see
Osborne
House and the castle from the boat. We can
anchor in the bay for afternoon tea and perhaps take
a swim, before setting off back up Southampton Water
to be back on our berth at about 17.00 hrs. after a
truly unforgettable day! |
There
are of course many other beautiful places in the Solent
to visit. Tide permitting, we could cruise up the Beaulieu
River in the heart of the New Forest. This
is one of the most beautiful and famous rivers in the
Country. Owned by Lord Montague, it is tranquil and
full of wildlife. We can travel up the river as far
as Bucklers
Hard to see where some of Nelson's ships
were built. Cowes is another really interesting place
where you may prefer to go ashore for a browse around
the many excellent sailing and clothes shops
Newtown
Creek, is a beautiful nature reserve on the
island. Here we can anchor while you swim, take afternoon
tea, or just relax and enjoy the surroundings.
